Let's Talk Wyoming - Wyoming Department of Health

The Wyoming Department of Health needed help communicating various workplace safety messaging in a way that was engaging, relatable, and effective. The work primarily focused on the heavy industries from mining, manufacturing, and construction. These industries see a lot of substance abuse, long hours in harsh conditions, a lack of regular preventative health care, and stigmas around talking about mental health.

The result was a series of 13 educational videos with cinematic yet relatable intros that allowed viewers to potentially see themselves or their coworkers in. The informational part of the video was delivered by a compassionate but tough spokesman that talked to them as an equal, not as an authority figure. Along with the videos were materials for presenters as well as worksheets for the employees taking part in the training. Also a part of the campaign were materials job site managers could put up in break areas or locker rooms with information on how to seek further help for sensitive subjects like substance abuse or mental health and suicide.

These materials live on as a resource for managers and employers to continually educate their workforce how to keep everyone safe at work while erasing stigmas.
